OCIA stands for the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults, the Catholic Church’s process for adults and older children to learn about the faith and become full members of the Church by receiving the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist. Formerly known as RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults), OCIA is a spiritual journey of formation, evangelization, and discernment. For many, this journey culminates at the Easter Vigil, welcoming both the unbaptized and baptized Christians from other denominations into full communion with the Catholic Church.
